King Solomon, As a Lily Among Thorns

BK00015593

“Solomon, I have traveled far to learn about your Goddess of Wisdom. May I ask how you propose teaching me her wisdom?” How did Solomon answer this question posed to him by Bilqis, Queen of Sheba?

King Solomon, Paris Terrorism

In a previous post on 9/21/2015, referenced below, I posed a question after this statement.
“President Obama is now making plans to allow Muslim Syrian refugees in the USA. Is this wise?”

King Solomon’s Rare Treasure

In my earlier blogs I wrote about sharing wealth and giving endlessly that received a fair amount of blog buzz. Personal views about these subjects appear to be very vexing to both rich and poor today, same as 3000 years ago. In the following novel excerpts, I surmised how King Solomon, based on his proverbs, may have answered two questions posed by the Queen of Sheba about his personal views of being wealthy in relationship to wisdom. The novel is a contemporary application of a story form to promote understanding of proverbs and ancient wise sayings in relation to our modern times.

King Solomon and Creative Writers

Every creative writer in time may have tried to use his or her words to create a perfect image for a reader to envision. Whether writing to impact a powerful message or an elegant story to interest the reader, the words must balance in order to effectively express the message. Every writer also has a fond memory of a teacher or mentor who impacted or helped them in their youth or writing endeavor. King Solomon, 3000 years ago, wrote two proverb verses about these relationships.
In my novel, I used his two verses to give special thanks to my mentors and have added the following excerpt to explain additional interpretations of the meanings of these two verses. The novel is a contemporary application of a story form to promote understanding of proverbs and ancient wise sayings in relation to our modern times.

King Solomon’s Caution About Giving Endlessly

In my earlier blog posting titled King Solomon and Sharing Wealth, I surmised King Solomon’s views why the rich should share their wealth with the poor. Many liberal politicians may believe this is best achieved through taxation. However, many rich taxpayers do not believe they should share their wealth with the non-deserving. I surmised in a novel what King Solomon may have advised the Queen of Sheba in regards to this subject based on his proverb. The novel is a contemporary application of a story form to promote understanding of proverbs and ancient wise sayings in relation to our modern times.

King Solomon and Sharing Wealth

Sharing wealth is a hot political topic in the US news lately. That is because the balance of wealth curve of the extremely rich one percent in comparison to the poor or middle class has become more skewed in the past thirty years. This subject seems to have existed 3000 years ago and throughout history and may have contributed to the rise and fall of many past civilizations. I surmised in a novel excerpt what King Solomon may have answered his views to the Queen of Sheba about sharing wealth. The novel is a contemporary application of a story form to promote understanding of proverbs and ancient wise sayings in relation to our modern times.

King Solomon and Atheism

The word atheism did not exist 3000 years ago. The term atheism originated from the Greek ἄθεος (atheos), meaning “without god(s)”, used as a pejorative term applied to those thought to reject the gods worshipped by the larger society. King Solomon’s wisdom was gifted to him by his God Yahweh according to the Bible. To fear God was to believe you will be judged for your evil deeds in life. I surmised in a novel that Solomon would have used the word nonbeliever when he gave his views of wisdom in regards to atheism in response to a question posed by the Queen of Sheba. The novel is a contemporary application of a story form to promote understanding of proverbs and ancient wise sayings in relation to our modern times.

King Solomon’s Greatest Surety

There are many story legends about the relationship of King Solomon and the Queen of Sheba. There are also many proverbs of King Solomon’s views on how foolish it is to take on excessive debt and wind up losing the surety the borrower pledges for a loan or credit. In ancient times, there was no relief of declaring bankruptcy and a borrower could even wind up becoming a slave to the lender to pay back debt. In modern times, high interest results in essence to make a foolish credit spender become a slave of sorts to the lender when the high interest results in him or her never being able to pay back the principle. In a novel excerpt, I surmise how Solomon felt about taking a vow to his God to appease the legendary agreement made between them. The novel is a contemporary application of a story form to promote understanding of proverbs and ancient wise sayings in relation to our modern times.

King Solomon’s Dream Interpreter

There are many recorded instances in the Bible and history of dream interpreters and the belief that Gods send messages to us in the form of dreams. Whether or not you believe this is a matter of faith. In the following novel excerpt, I surmised how King Solomon explained to the Queen of Sheba how his dream was interpreted shortly after he prayed this request to Yahweh. “Give your servant a discerning heart to govern your people and to distinguish between right and wrong.” The novel is a contemporary application of a story form to promote understanding of proverbs and ancient wise sayings in relation to our modern times.

King Solomon and Defense Lawyers

According to the American Bar Association there are currently 1,116,967 lawyers practicing in the United States. That is approximately one for every 300 people. The basic purpose of a defense lawyer is to protect the rights of their clients because of the history of unfair justice. TV and Movies sometimes portray a defense lawyer who knows his client is guilty as being a cohort in crime with the guilty criminals they represent. In real life though, if a client admits his guilt to his lawyer, a virtuous lawyer might advise his client to admit their guilt and make a deal with prosecutors to lessen their sentence, or decide not to represent them. However, not all lawyers or anyone else for that matter are virtuous when large monetary  incentives are involved.
I surmised in the following novel excerpts how King Solomon explained to the Queen of Sheba his remedy to dissuade a lawyer wanting to represent a person as being innocent for monetary reasons while knowing he was guilty. The novel is a contemporary application of a story form to promote understanding of proverbs and ancient wise sayings in relation to our modern times.

King Solomon’s Choice Between Ruthless Anger or Jealousy

King Solomon as a ruler in ancient times would judge those brought before him for various matters. In this capacity as a judge he must have formed various personal opinions of those he judged. In a novel excerpt, I surmised how he explained his views about anger and jealousy to the Queen of Sheba based on his proverb. The novel is a contemporary application of a story form to promote understanding of proverbs and ancient wise sayings in relation to our modern times.
