What type of stories about sloths might interest God?
In the previous post I stated someone once said the reason God created us was because He loves to hear a good story. Will our story be pleasing to Him? If not, I suggested maybe we should begin to edit our lives to make our story be more pleasing to God.
Conundrums to Consider
Bible Genesis 1:27 states God created human beings in his own image to rule over all plants, animals, and insects in the world He created. Genesis also after each creation God was made, God said “that was good.” I surmise that God prefers the word good and wants us to emulate “good” as we rule over his creations.
Modern science continues to discover good purposes for life of all of God’s creations. The slow, lazy habits of the sloth have an ecosystem purpose you can read about in Source below if you are interested.
The Bible also states, by various individuals that God gave us humans free will to make choices in our life. If we decide to emulate the good purpose of one animal or insect in our life, what might interest God when He listens to your story about the choice we make?
King Solomon’s Choices
Go to the ant, O sluggard, observe her ways and be wise (Proverb 6:6)
The use of ant as a paradigm in this passage is less artful and more heavily didactic than fable, and there is no metamorphosis of the insect. What is in view is ant, qua ant, whose habits are analogous to those of the disciplined , methodical and diligent man. (Proberbs McKane)
A slothful man hideth his hand in his bosom, and will not so much as bring it to his mouth again. (Proverb 19:24)
A slothful man hideth his hand in his bosom,…. In cold weather to keep it warm, and at other times, as unwilling to use it in labour; (Gils Bible Exposition)
Sloth as a Sin in the Bible
The Bible message about the word sloth is not to emulate the habits of a sloth behavior in your life. They give an appearance of being lazy, slow, dirty, even filthy. King Solomon wrote a number of proverbs of advice not to be lazy as a sloth or sluggard.
Sloth as Depicted in Entertainment
The Disney a Movie Zootopia, depicts the slow pace of a sloth in an entertaining way in comparison to a rabbit on a desperate hurry to solve a mystery. In My Opinion
I admire both King Solomon for the wisdom of his wise proverbs. I also admire Disney for their effort to depict animals in an entertaining way to promote peace and harmony in the world.
I surmise though, based on history and what we all read and hear on the news, that God must have great patience with his creations. I say this based on the slow pace and progress we have displayed to absorb His wisdom to do good, and the futile efforts to solve the conundrums of how to find the right path that leads to peace and harmony in our world.
I also surmise that when the time comes for someone to tell their story to God, let’s hope for his or her sake that God will not lose interest and pull the switch to eject them from the red seat I described in Post Three.
