What really happened?
Is journalism being used in a deliberate attempt to entertain us or to lead us in the same manner as the Pied Piper used to lead rats to drown themselves? In other words, is today’s journalism leading us on an unhealthy path of destruction instead of reporting the news? If so, today’s news is both a hypocrisy as well as an infringement of our Constitution rights of free speech.
What is the purpose of journalism? How does it relate to the wisdom of King Solomon Proverbs, our health and rights of free speech, as well as the health of our nation? To answer these questions, we need to begin with purposes and definitions.
Purposes
The purpose of a proverb is to present wisdom in a short, memorable format. (*)
The first purpose of Journalism is to provide people with the information they need to be free and self-governing. (**)
Definitions
Bias is prejudice in favor of or against one thing, person, or group compared with another, usually in a way considered to be unfair. (***)
Hypocrisy the practice of claiming to have moral standards or beliefs to which one’s own behavior does not conform; pretense. (****).
If you are interested in my opinions why too much of today’s news is a hypocrisy of journalism and not wise for the health of our nation, please consider the above, questions, purposes, and definitions. I will explain my reasoning and one possible solution in my next posts.
Regards and good will blogging
