Illinois Fair Tax Amendment? King Solomon Blog?

Do you trust Illinois politicians understand the meaning of the word fair?

The Chicago Tribune article titled? Mayor eyes up to $200 M in layoffs, reported the financial plight in Chicago caused by a combination of the pandemic and need for police because of riots.

Another article titled: Misinformation on Pritzker (Fair”) Tax” Amendment is decried, reports concern by retired that the tax will in time result in taxing retirement incomes.

The Purpose of This Post

Is to relate ancient wisdom on the concept of the word fair when it involves the retirement incomes of Illinois State employees compared to the average taxpayer in the State.

King Solomon

King Solomon wrote many verses on the issues of justice and equity but when it came to taxation, he it appears both King Solomon and Illinois agree to be on the same path of folly understanding the word fair when applied to taxations,

. For example, after the death of King Solomon, the issue of fair tax burdens wound up to be the reason his Nation split up and his Kingdom dissolved was because he taxed the richer Norther Providences at a higher rate than the poorer Southern Providences.

Definition of Fair- Merriam- Webster

a: marked by impartiality and honesty : free from self-interest, prejudice, or favoritism

What’s My Point?

Illinois employees’ pensions are currently unfunded in an amount of 137 billion dollars because government pensions to Illinois employees have been mismanaged and have never been fair in comparison to average taxpayers’ pensions.

No one trust Illinois politicians promises that the amendment will only be limited to high Illinois earners and in the future will apply to lower tax brackets, in my opinion.

My point is to provide a Forbes article for average taxpayers to consider when they vote to approve the proposed “fair tax” amendment to decide for themselves if Illinois government understands what the word “fair” means.

In My Opinion,

I wrote a previous post of how Illinois proposed the recreational marijuana referendum by asking voters if they would approve the amendment to fund schools.

The amount after approve that was funded to schools was two percent.

You Decide,

If after reading the articles, do you believe the Illinois pensions are fair according to the above word definition of the word fiat and has your trust in politicians been fortified.

If after reading, would your perhaps agree it be fairer for average taxpayers in Illinois to tax only Illinois employee pensions over $100,000 a year by 99 percent would be fairer and result in an additional billions of dollars of tax revenue?

As for laying off which Illinois employees, how about reducing the present 7000 State governing districts the highest in the nation.
