What if the USA sentenced drug smugglers to death same as in China?
The Chicago Tribune article titled, China sentences a Canadian to a death sentence in the drug smuggling case, raises diplomatic tensions, reports a death sentence paradox, in my opinion.
The Purpose of this Post
Is to examine the paradox of this death sentence judgement in China compared to the USA in regards to the consequences of deaths resulting from drug smuggling.

: a statement that is seemingly contradictory or opposed to common sense and yet is perhaps true

What’s Going On?
Anyone who studied the history of China’s experience with the Opium Wars would be aware of the millions of deaths that occurred because of the use and methods used to end the widespread use of Opium.
In a recent post titled, Opioid Crisis Leaves 700,000 Americans Dead: “Epidemic Continues to Worsen and Evolve,” reports the consequences of drug casualties in the USA since 1999.
President Trump claims a large percentage of drugs are being smuggled into the USA from Southern Borders and wants to build a 2000-mile long wall same as China did centuries ago.
Meanwhile in the USA, States are legalizing recreational marijuana in spite of medical studies claiming that a significant percentage of users will in time bridge to more potent hard drugs such as opium.
What’s My Point?
The USA Christian beliefs of our founders, and belief in capital punishment has evolved over time same as the Bible evolved from the Old Testament to the New Testament.
China is not a Christian Nation and when we read in the news, they will sentence a drug smuggler to death, we may judge them to be cruel and unjust..
However, in a novel about the Bible titled, Is the Death Penalty Just, a writer compares the ancient beliefs of religion and makes these statements:
“ Thus, in the New Testament we find Paul acknowledging the legitimacy of the death penalty in Acts 25:11 saying,”
“For if I am an offender or have committed anything worthy of death, I do not object to dying; but if there is nothing in these things of which these men accuse me, no one can deliver me to them. I appeal to Caesar.”
“Causing a habitual murderer to face death may be the only thing that brings him to his senses and makes him face eternity seriously.”
Do drug smugglers bear responsibility in causing the deaths of the 700, 000 Americans who died since 1999 in the USA?
If so, would it make sense to prevent the drugs from entering the USA whether it is a wall, a port inspection, or whatever?
Or perhaps sentence drug smugglers to death to “bring drug smugglers to their senses?”
“Does it make sense for people to indulge in recreational drugs that are known to become additive?”
“Does it make sense for taxpayers to pay medical costs for drug addicts who choose to indulge in drugs for recreational purposes?
Do politicians bear any blame of responsibility for ignoring the drug problems and by doing so, the result is 700,000 deaths in the USA?
In My Opinion
Nothing makes sense to me about the present political policies in the USA in regards to illegal drugs policies or enforcement of USA borders to prevent drugs from entry into the USA?
Nothing makes sense to me about making USA taxpayers work to pay costs to jail, feed, cloth, convicted drug smugglers and for it to be unlawful to make prisoners work to pay the costs to jail them instead.
Nothing makes sense to me to read about politicians claiming it is immoral to build a wall to help patrol the border of USA and Mexico and turn a blind eye to illegal drug smuggling at the border.
Nothing makes sense to me to object to funding 5.7 billion-dollars for a wall to end yearly costs for payments of 125 billion dollars a year to subsidize illegal immigrants.
Nothing makes sense to me for the government to approve recreational drugs to obtain tax revenue and then pay more dollars than collected to treat drug addicts when they wind up as drug addicts or engage in criminal acts to pay for drugs..
