There is no place in the world like Chicago when it comes to loading an election, in my opinion.
The Chicago Tribune article titled, Our eclectic team of mayoral candidates, is cheering on the nine mayoral candidates now running to be elected Mayor of Chicago. It predicts, “the campaign will get uglier from here on out.”
In a previous post about the Chicago primary, I explained how Chicago politics works to keep incumbents in power in Chicago by “loading the number of candidates running to increase the odds of the incumbent to win.”
While some candidates may not be “loaders” in a sense that they would be promised a city job or favor if they run for an office to split up the votes. Spitting up votes will numerically improve the odds for an incumbent numerical odds of winning. That is because every incumbent has a lot of workers family, friends, and vendors that will go out to support their incumbent to either keep their jobs or business interests.
Nine candidates for Chicago Mayor may be a new record of Chicago savvy political maneuvering for incumbents.
King Solomon
That which is crooked cannot be made straight: and that which is wanting cannot be numbered. (Ecclesiastes 1:15)
“The thing that hath been, it is that which shall be; and that which is done is that which shall be done: and there is no new thing under the sun.” (Ecclesiastes 1:9)
What’s My Point?
The real Biblical meaning of the above King Solomon verse 1:15 is that God is the only one who has the power to straighten out all the problems created by mankind.
However, I believe in the context of Chicago politics and savvy politicians the verse is meaningful in the context that Chicago politics is all about maintaining power in office.
In My Opinion
Anyone who studied the history of Chicago politics will quickie realize that Chicago politics can become very ugly when it comes to the possibility of a politician losing the power to hire, and fire both Chicago workers and vendors.
Perhaps the only way Chicago crookedness is ever going to be straightened is for voters to start praying for Gods help.
As for the possibility of Term Limits, the final words in the Chicago Tribune is “Dream on.”
You Decide
Isn’t Chicago the greatest city in the world for savvy politicians? For example, Obama Clinton, Daley, Also, see a list of former Chicago politicians jailed for corruption in the links below.
Because nothing ever changes to straighten out crookedness in Chicago politics, is that because of God’s choice, or does it have something to do with the wisdom of the voter’s choice?
Or is it because of a miracle that King Solomon had Chicago politics on his mind when he wrote the above Ecclesiastes 1:9 verse? Meaning that there will never be anything new under the sun in the locality of the City of Chicago in regards to incumbent politicians?
Regards and good will blogging.
