Why should all killers be described as “Fools” in the News Media?
A Chicago Tribune article titled, Does media coverage of mass murders inspire others to kill, brings up the question of how someone unknown may be inspired to kill to obtain attention. Sound crazy, but the fact is there are a lot of mental impaired obsessive people in our world. Would suppressing news content be the answer?
I have a different recommendation inspired from proverbial writings over 3000 years ago.
King Solomon (Proverb 2:13,14 with Gils Excerpts)
Who leave the paths of uprightness, to walk in the ways of darkness;
for though persons do not easily and ordinarily leave the ways they have been brought up in, yet sometimes they do; and there are instances of it, and such generally are the worst of men;
Who rejoice to do evil, and delight in the frowardness of the wicked;
At the doing of it, or when they have done it; they are glad of an opportunity of doing mischief, and glory when they have done it; it is a sport and pastime to them, Proverbs 10:2; they take pleasure in the act of sin, and have no remorse of conscience afterwards; they speak of it in an exulting manner and boast of it, and glory in their shame;
What’s My Point
The above explanations describe the thoughts an actions of what King Solomon described a person he considered to be a fool.
In a previous post, King Solomon, Only Wise or Foolish, I explained his ancient writings only used two words to describe all the people he observed.
Wise or Fool
Should the news media emulate his description of all murderers with the same adjective in their news reports?
For Example, change the reporting of these sentences and phrases written in the article.
From – “17 killed at a Florida school, the toll may climb.”
To – “17 Killed by a fool at Florida school, the toll may climb.”
From – “the criminal mind”
To –“ the fool criminal mind”
From – “Attention is Attention, and this is the ultimate attention-getting.”
To – “Attention is Attention by fools, and this is the ultimate attention-getting by a fool.”
In My Opinion
Not only is the description sentence factual to describe a foolish incident, it is an accurate description of what every killer may, in fact, experiences his or her motivation to commit every folly.
Sadly, everyone ever born will sometime in his or her life experience foolish motivations to commit folly.
King Solomon observed and recorded in a verse the root cause throughout the history of all humans, in his time and now.

You Decide
Would you agree the above Verses are accurate and factual to describe the motive of the killer in the Florida School Shootings?
Do you agree the news media should use the word “Fool” when they name a killer and his actions?
Do you agree King Solomon was wise? If so, do you agree the news media should study up on Proverbs and Wisdom when they write articles about killers rather than give them motivations to emulate or copycat other fools?
