Will “Getting better data (on sluggards, marijuana, vinegar and smoke) help everyone?”
The Chicago Tribune article on April 26,2017 titled, “Drugged” driving a serious problem, police need more training.” I say politicians right now attempting to pass a legalized recreational marijuana law in Illinois Senate, mainly for added tax revenue, need the data training more than the police.
Why? Because the police will only become involved in fatal crashes after, and the Legislators who are supposed to pass laws to improve safer roadways before fatal crashes occur.
Read some of the following Excerpts and perhaps you will agree that the statistics can only become worse when pot is legalized in Illinois.

“Drug – impaired driving has become a bigger problem in the United States than drunken driving……
The Governors Highway Association and the Foundation for Advancing Alcohol Responsibility, national nonprofit safety groups, reported 43 percent of fataily injured drivers with known test results tested positive for drugs, while 38 percent tested positive for alcohol.
..difficulties testing for marijuana….is not metabolized same as alcohol…..not all drivers in fatal crashes are tested

I have not read the original report but assume that opiate drugs and/or a combination of any drugs and alcohol play a big factor. I wonder what data would be revealed if drivers in all accidents were tested for alcohol and drugs, not only fatal , and if there was a way to test marijuana THC, the main psychoactive component in marijuana.
Anyone who believes that legalized marijuana will eliminate illegal drug sellers should consider the great American concept of competition. For example, legalized marijuana will likely have THC limitations and added costs for tax revenues. Competition by Savvy illegal sellers will reduce their prices, and offer higher THC content to draw buyers. This has already happened with high cigarette taxes. Plus they may provide more private service or secretive distribution services on street corners to minors or otherwise.

In My Opinion
Politicians and proponents for legalized recreational drug laws are likely to pooh this report. In a previous post my suggestion to add a code on driver licenses in order to purchase legal marijuana will also be ignored.
You Decide
Would you consider a politician that votes for this bill to be a sluggard who will disregard the truth about marijuana? Do you believe drivers under the influence of marijuana will not be affected as “being hurtful in time same as a sour grape turns into hurtful vinegar to the teeth, sets them on edge, and as smoke to the eyes, dims the sight, cause the eye to water, and is very pernicious and vexatious while driving a car on a public roadway?
