Does this question originally addressed to Black voters in 2016 now apply to Millennials and Generation Z voters in the 2020 election?
A Bloomberg article titled, One percenters close to surpassing wealth of USA middle class, reports in detail by age who owns the wealth in the USA.
The Purpose to This Post
Is to convey a warning to the GOP that voters who have nothing to lose may vote based on emotion rather than logic. And the truth is some politicians may make empty suit promises in order to be elected as Joy Behar revealed in her advice to Democrats on guns.
King Solomon
Clouds and wind and no rain, a man who boasts about a non-existent gift. (Proverb 25:14)
“There are men that pose as benefactors, promise magnificent gifts, but their undertakings bear no relation to their resources. Their words are empty, same as deceptive clouds and wind that produce no rain.”
The simple believes every word: but the prudent man looks well where he is going. (Proverb 13:15)
The rich rule over the poor, and the borrower is slave to the lender. (Proverb 22:7)
What’s My Point?
A Citizen Tom comment inspired me to attempt to discern what may be a Perfect Storm” brewing up in the upcoming 2020 elections.
“What the Democrats propose is emotional, not based on logic. Hard to debate such people. There is nothing to refute because it doesn’t make any sense to start. It just appeals to people who are what they want to believe,”
Whether voters make choices based on emotion or logic in a Republic, the end result is the same. Someone will win the election and once in office, there are no guarantees that the winners will ever fulfill or achieve their promises.
And, the Joy Behera revealing remark of advice to the Democrat party s candidate she favors,
‘Wait until you get elected and then take them (guns) away’
Couple this remark with the fact there is a very significant wealth gap in the USA between the rich and poor.
Perhaps, many millennials just may vote on emotion rather than logic to support Socialism in the coming election because they really have not that much to lose wealth wise?
In My Opinion
The ancient proverb that the rich rule over the poor is no longer applicable in a Republic where voters can vote to obtain power to rule (tax) the rich,
Couple the statistics of the breakdown in voters by age groups, in the upcoming 2020 election, a perfect storm may indeed be brewing for Socialism
if I was a billionaire, I might be concerned about voters “having nothing to lose” by voting for candidates who promise to tax the rich heavily in order to obtain social benefits like free college, school debt eliminated, free medical care, guaranteed income whether they work or not, etc. etc. etc.
And so, who which party in 2020 may win even if based on empty suit promises because “when you got nothing, you got nothing to lose?”
