Is it wise to concur with this statement?
The Chicago Tribune Article titled, Atheist to deliver the invocation at DuPage meeting, reported Hermant Mehta won’t be asking anyone to bow their heads or clap their hands when he delivers his invocation at the March 12, DuPage County Board Meeting.
The article reminded me of a comment I made on a post titled, Know Yourself, about self-meditation which stated,
“You do not have to be of any particular religion or any religion. Open your heart and seek within. To know yourself is unique to each of us. This uniqueness evolves as we seek the truth with love and service to others. When you know yourself, there will be no more fear, only understanding of your purpose. Meditation, contemplation, study, thanksgiving and prayer are tools for the great journey.”
The Purpose of This Post
Is to question the wisdom of believing we humans are equal to God.
What’s My Point?
The Chicago Tribune article explains the controversy of DuPage County Board practice of beginning each meeting with a religious invocation and how an atheist came about to be invited is my comment.
The article reminded me of the comment I made.

While I believe a person needs to know himself is wise, I wonder if you misinterpreted the meaning of Luke 17:21 to believe knowing yourself is means what you stated in your conclusion.
“You do not have to be of any particular religion or any religion.”
Luke 17:21 KJV
“Neither shall they say, lo here! or, lo there! for, behold, the kingdom of God is within you. (KJV)”

the kingdom of God is among you; and the meaning be, that the king Messiah was already come, and was among them, and his kingdom was already set up, of which the miracles of Christ were a full proof; and if they could not discern these signs of the times, and evident appearances of the kingdom of God among them, they would never be able to make any observation of it, hereafter, or elsewhere.
The reason I question the wisdom of your statement based on this King Solomon verse,
“while I was still searching but not finding– I found one upright man among a thousand, but not one upright woman among them all.” (Ecclesiastes 7:28)
My point is that if you do not have a belief in a Superior Being, or God, to inspire or guide your search, my interpretation would be that when you reach any state of believing you “know yourself” you will never result to perfect any human to become a perfect upright being.

In My Opinion
The purpose of an invocation is
invocation. the act of invoking or calling upon a deity, spirit, etc., for aid, protection, inspiration, or the like; supplication. any petitioning or supplication for help or aid. a form of prayer invoking God’s presence, especially one said at the beginning of a religious service or public ceremony.
In other words, we should keep in mind that we humans need to be reminded that we all need to call on our Creator for wisdom before making any decisions to rule over our fellow imperfect human beings.
The proof of my opinion is written in the history of mankind, for example, war, anger, hatred, and everyone on the seven deadly sins ever since history was first recorded. In other words, to recollect our failings and limitation.
Or to know yourself is “Wisdom to recollect.”
