scatter wisdom: King Solomon, Understanding Wisdom’s Lanes and Guns, A Thanksgiving Day Lament?

Would teaching Wisdom have prevented the recent gun tragedies?

The Chicago Tribune Perspective, Gun violence doesn’t stay in a lane, contained three pro and con gun commentary opinions in relation to “lament” the recent shootings in the USA. My kudos to the Chicago Tribune for presenting more than one side in their perspective page on this sad state of affairs about all kinds of killings taking place in the USA and the world.

The Purpose of this Post…

….is not to present another, “I told you so,” or, “after the incidence of violence spin analyses” about either intolerant liberalism or conservative views on guns.

Rather, the purpose is to reflect on the possibility that understanding ancient wisdom Proverbs may have prevented the incidents.

In other words, for you to decide whether or not Wisdom should be a mandatory taught course in all schools to promote understanding. In this instance, how to recognize and understand the possible consequences of human behaviors responses of what might happen to people who are rejected from entering certain lanes in life.

King Solomon

“Get wisdom, get understanding, forget it not; neither decline from the words of my mouth. Wisdom is the principal thing, therefore get wisdom, and with all your getting, get understanding.” (Proverbs 4: 4-7)

Excerpt

“His motive of jealously also created a consuming fire within his belly that clouded all reason and brought about a floodwater of ruthless anger. If I had to choose to stand up to battle against an angry enraged man, or a jealous man, I would choose the former.” Ruthless anger and floodwaters of rage, but who can stand before jealousy, (Proverb 27:4)

What’s My Point?

Police usually arrive during or after someone crosses the path of ruthless anger. My point being when someone is rejected in life for various reasons, love affair, employment, social stereotypes of color, sexual preferences, etc., etc., the result is people when rejected usually become angry.

The above wisdom proverbs were observed 3000 years ago and the advice was to obtain wisdom for people traveling on their separate paths in life. And to recognize the hazards they may encounter in order to make wise decisions to hopefully live a long, happy, prosperous life during our short lifespans.

The question in retrospect is knowing how people become angry in a society of guns, or any other weapons, what to do to handle someone in a wise manner who you reject to enter your path.

Notice, King Solomon proverb explanation indicate a rejected jealous suiter has a higher degree of anger when he or she is rejected from entering another person’s path in life.

If both parties were taught this wisdom, would the violent acts have been prevented is a question that no longer has any relevance after the occurrence.

In My Opinion

Why we teach every subject in our schools exceptWisdom to our children to understand how wisdom can prevent foolish choices before they cause sadness, is a travesty.

In other words, “Wisdom is the quality that keeps you from getting into situations where you need it.”

While I personally doubt it will solve all problems, I do believe it may help reduce the number of times a policeman has to respond to sad situation, after the occurrence happens.

Should Wisdom be a mandatory course taught to our schoolchildren to take advantage of this ancient advice to help us “wise up” and quit repeating the same old follies over and over in every new generation ever since the proverb was written 3000 years ago

What has been will be again, what has been done will be done again; there is nothing new under the sun. (Ecclesiastes 1:9)

So I turned to consider wisdom, madness and folly; for what will the man do who will come after the king except what has already been done? (Ecclesiastes 2:12)
