Will legalizing recreational marijuana in Illinois reduce or eliminate illegal drug sellers? Or are the claims of proponents sheer mendacious statements, pure folly, or a hidden agenda?
Mendacious Definition
: given to or characterized by deception or falsehood or divergence from absolute truth
mendacious tales of his adventures (Source Merriam-Webster)
Chicago Tribune
The Chicago Tribune article titled, Build-a-Bear promotion swamps stores, reports a sales promotion based on lower prices drew such a large crowd of bargain hunters, it was described, “It was pandemonium.”
How do these two subject relate to one another is the subject of this post.
King Solomon
Keep falsehood and lies far from me; give me neither poverty nor riches, but give me only my daily bread. (Proverb 30:8 NIV)
Eloquent lips are unsuited to a godless fool– how much worse lying lips to a ruler! (Proverb 17:7 NIV)
If a ruler listens to lies, all his officials become wicked.(Proverb 29:12 NIV)
Wisdom makes one wise person more powerful than ten rulers in a city.( Ecclesiastes 7:19)
What’s My Point?
Voters will hear all kinds of statements and claims by politicians who support legalized recreational marijuana in Illinois.
Legislators will state it will eliminate criminals from profiting from illegal sales same as when prohibition ended. However, alcohol and drugs are two different commodities the same as apples and oranges.
Sellers will advertise claims of all the wondrous nonharmful effects that marijuana will benefit them to enlarge their market share same a cigarette advertising did in the past. Ask any doctor if recreational marijuana has any potential harmful effects.
Use of drugs and alcohol in ancient times was given to those who were dying to forget their misery, not create more misery in their lives.
In My Opinion
In previous posts, I stated that legalizing recreational marijuana will only create more users over time creating a larger market. More car accidents, more minors having access, and in time the short term tax revenue will never be sufficient to rehabilitate uses that cross over the bridge to more potent drugs and become addicts. All proven by medical facts.
I believe that in time illegal marijuana will still be sold at cheaper costs by illegal drug sellers who are drawn to any bargain same as the Build-a-Bear article described. When regulation costs and taxes are added to a product, it becomes more expensive.
There is a black market for cigarettes now to avoid taxes. There will be the same when legalized recreational marijuana becomes available.
Politicians that support legalized marijuana may have either an agenda to add to their campaign funds, or they are fools.
The wisdom proverb states one wise man is more powerful than ten rulers. One voter against legalized recreational marijuana can be the deciding factor in the next election.
You Decide
If interested, read the previous posts in the Source Links below.
Then consider the relation to Build-a-Bear promotion and the legalize recreational marijuana political promotion that you will soon be hearing from politicians.
Will you or a member of your family be drawn into the effects of a drug pandemonium in their lives because of legalized recreational marijuana same as the Build-a-Bear?
Is this post mendacious or truth?
Then decide if the person you decide to vote for in the next election is mendacious or a fool.
Regards and good will blogging.
