King Solomon, Political Partisanship or Idolatry?

Will USA political partisanship repeat the same historical result as in King Solomon era?

We often hear historians state the reason to study and learn from history is to avoid repeating the same folly or mistakes. In today’s news, two articles involving Senator Nancy Pelosi reminded me of the above saying.
The first titled, Dems Sit out Trump meeting. The second titled, Pelosi’s double standard:Naked, shameless partisanship. Both articles involve similar past circumstances that evolved 3000 years to result in the Kingdom of Israel split 3000 years ago.
Both contain elements of partisanship, sex, taxes, and idolatry.
Definitions Used for Purposes of this Post
Partisanship
prejudice in favor of a particular cause; bias.
“an act of blatant political partisanship”
Idolatry
extreme admiration, love, or reverence for something or someone.
“we must not allow our idolatry of art to obscure issues of political significance”
King Solomon
There is a detailed example of partisan politics found in the Old Testament foreshadowing two contemporary but profoundly different ideologies.
Recall that King Solomon in an attempt to please his wives became involved in idolatry. That action brought sever consequences on himself and for Israel.
1 Kings 11:9-13New International Version (NIV)
The Lord became angry with Solomon because his heart had turned away from the Lord, the God of Israel, who had appeared to him twice.10 Although he had forbidden Solomon to follow other gods, Solomon did not keep the Lord’s command. 11 So the Lord said to Solomon, “Since this is your attitude and you have not kept my covenant and my decrees, which I commanded you, I will most certainly tear the kingdom away from you and give it to one of your subordinates. 12 Nevertheless, for the sake of David your father, I will not do it during your lifetime. I will tear it out of the hand of your son. 13 Yet I will not tear the whole kingdom from him, but will give him one tribe for the sake of David my servant and for the sake of Jerusalem, which I have chosen.”(Source HERE)
In My Opinion
I have to wonder if the news being reported is now “during my lifetime.”
Seems like when our nation was founded, these words were written.
“One Nation, Under God, Indivisible, with Liberty and Justice for all.”
You Decide
Is history repeating itself in the USA?
