Why did the clergy pray for wisdom at his Inauguration?
My grandson Ryan sent me a text during the inauguration to alert me that a King Solomon prayer was invoked at the ceremony more than once. He reads my blog and perhaps hearing a prayer mentioning King Solomon may have stirred his interest about the need and validity for wisdom in our life and nation. At least I hope and pray so.
Prayer
“God of our ancestors and Lord of mercy, you have made all things. And in your providence have charged us to rule the creatures produced by you, to govern the world in holiness and righteousness, and to render judgment with integrity of heart. Give us wisdom, for we are your servants, weak and short-lived, lacking in comprehension of judgment and of laws. Indeed, though one might be perfect among mortals, if wisdom which comes from you be lacking, we count for nothing. Now with you is wisdom, who knows your will and was there when you made the world, who understands what is pleasing in your eyes, what is conformable with your commands, send her forth from your holy heavens. From your glorious throne, dispatch her that she may be with us and work with us, that we may grasp what is pleasing to you. For she knows and understands all things and will guide us prudently in our affairs and safeguard us by her glory.”
Why
Perhaps Cardinal Dolan and the other clergy may still have reservations about Donald Trump? Yet it was Donald Trump who selected and invited the clergy to pray at his inauguration. Are Prayers for wisdom needed, or being answered for the politics of our nation, perhaps?
King Solomon
Give me an understanding heart so that I can govern your people well and know the difference between right and wrong. For who by himself is able to govern this great people of yours?” (Kings 3:9)
I surmised in a novel Excerpt, based on King Solomon’s proverbs, how he may have  advised the Queen of Sheba about the subject of prayer. The novel is a contemporary application of a story form to promote understanding of proverbs and ancient wise sayings in relation to our modern times.
Excerpt
“Bilqis, my advice to you is to pray to your Gods to help you ponder my love for you and the path you must now choose. I will also pray again to my Gods for wisdom to help you. We are now on a mountaintop, nearer to our Gods in the heavens and away from the entreaties of the masses below in hope that they may hear us more clearly. Never underestimate the power of prayer. Do not think that your maker, who made you for His reasons, will not listen to your prayers and entreaties. Prayer is the undisputed trait of piety and the greatest source of strength for the righteous.”
 What is My Point?
What the World Needs Now in Additon to Love is Wisdom, is the motto of my blog.
 You Decide
Based on what we read and hear in the news in our nation and world, do we need to pray for wisdom for our leaders and ourselves?
Regards and goodwill blogging.
