Why?
Wise. If interested, read of few of his quotations and decide if you agree he was wise. HERE
A Hero. Because I believe he was brave to accept his religious faith moral and civic calling to be a leader in the civil rights movement in his time. I also believe he knew someday he would die for his leadership role.
A Star. I also believe he could be described as a righteous star based on an ancient proverb of King Solomon.
I surmised in a novel Excerpt how King Solomon may have answered the Queen of Sheba his thoughts about stars. The novel is a contemporary application of a story form to convey understanding of ancient proverbs and wise sayings in relation to our modern world.
Excerpt
“We Israelites also believe that the meaning of each star in the sky to be a spirit of a righteous ancestor. The larger and brighter the star, the more righteous were the deeds of the ancestor. As a bright light in a home indicates that someone is home, so does a star shine brightly as if to signal to us that the righteous deeds remain with us. There will be no lamp or shining stars for the wicked. Their deeds of darkness in life will be extinguished and forgotten in time when they die.” The light of the righteous shines brightly, but the lamp of the wicked goes out. (Proverb 13:9)
