brighten up “the most corrupt city in the Nation?”
I read two articles on the same day and wonder if there might something more in the new Mayor of Chicago name that might be a spiritual plan rather than an accident.
The Chicago Tribune article titled, If Chicago wants reform, expand the powers of the Inspector General, stated: “an unprecedented call by voters for an end to the corruption that gives Chicago its reputation as “most corrupt city in our nation.”
A blog article titled, The Political Role of the Christian Church, included this statement:
14 “You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. 16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.
The Purpose of this Post
Is to link the two articles to a statement made by Chicago Cardinal Cupich about the last election.
“We live in a democracy, and we get the leaders we deserve, because we elect them,” he said. Rather than complaining about leaders, he would like to see people get involved in the process. “We still have very low voter turnout, very low participation in the political realm by people. If people don’t like their leaders, they should become involved in the process.”
King Solomon
The path of the righteous is like the morning sun, shining ever brighter till the full light of day. (Proverb 4:18)
The light of the righteous shines brightly, but the lamp of the wicked is extinguished. (Proverb 13:9)
10 Kick out the troublemakers and things will quiet down; you need a break from bickering and griping!
11 God loves the pure-hearted and well-spoken; good leaders also delight in their friendship. (Proverb 22 10:11)
What’s My Point?
Perhaps there is something spiritual in the name Lightfoot based on the above proverbs and the article about giving more power to an Inspector General to “brighten up the city image by kicking out the troublemakers?
In My Opinion
“We get the leaders we deserve” is a spot-on observation made by Cardinal Cupich.
Perhaps a spiritual power is giving a message to help “Light” up its reputation by “foot: kicking out the troublemaker leaders?
