Is it wise to cry and weep for Chicago and our Nation?
Two articles in the Chicago Tribune today reported why people are crying and weeping in Chicago.
The purpose of this post is to explore the wisdom of the question, “what to do?,” for the people who have live in hopelessness and fear in a city that employs over ten thousand police, 50 empty suit alderman, mayor, governor, State and National Congress, and thousands and thousands of dogged voters. All who will do nothing to change the power of gangs, hand tying laws, angry Rights activists, and of all the silent witnesses in our nation.
King Solomon,
Hope long drawn out is a sickness of the mind, but realized desire is a tree of life. (Proverb 13:12)
Clouds and wind and no rain, a man who boasts about a non-existent gift. (Proverb 25:14)
He who stops his ear to the cry of a poor man will himself cry out and not be answered. (Proverb, 21:13)
As a dog returns to his vomit, a fool returns to his folly. (Proverb 26:11)
When the wicked rise to power, people go into hiding; but when the wicked perish, the righteous thrive. (Proverb 28:28)
What’s My Point?
In each of the above proverbs I wrote a post which briefly explains all the provierbial wisdom that could have prevented the sad reasons why a Chicago Tribune reporter left a police community meeting and cried, and why a 12 year old paralyzed shooting victim wakes up mornings crying because he dreamed he could walk again.
In less than 30 days time, voters will again go into voting booths to vote for numerous candidates. Some who promise to end the gang killings taking place in Chicago and others who will make empty suit promises with no details what they propser to do.
Numerous dogged voters will vote for candidates for no other reason than either they have a friend or relative employed in Chicago or they have no other selection or criteria other than name recognition based on race.
In My Opinion
Voters need to demand every candidate tell them their plans to end the gang violence before they vote.
The next choice they should make if the same o, same o, comes into political power and turns out to be another empty suit, is move out of Chicago, same as I did, Forest Gump did, and thousands of others have been and are now doing.
Don’t just cry and lament, unless you are too old and poor to move. If you cannot move, vote, cry, pray, and buy a gun seems to be your only other options, in my opinion.
Why because of this King Solomon, and a Gump verse.
Anyone who is among the living has hope –even a live dog is better off than a dead lion! (Ecclesiastes 9:4)
