What do you think about when you view the magnificent array of stars on a dark clear cloudless night? Have you ever witnessed the wondrous views of the universe of the Hubble Spacecraft and tried to ponder their purpose and meaning?
I surmised how King Solomon may have answered these questions, based on his proverbs, to the Queen of Sheba in the following novel excerpt. The novel is a contemporary application of a story form to convey understanding of ancient proverbs and wise sayings in relation to our modern world.

“Solomon, what do you believe to be the purpose and meaning of the stars?”
“Bilqis, I believe there are probably some extremely complicated, yet orderly purpose and meaning of the stars created by Yahweh, same as there is for all of His heavenly and earthly creations. Until we learn otherwise, I believe one purpose of the stars is for man to look up and observe the power and glory of their creator. As we do, we should enjoy the beauty and wonder of his order of the heavens and earth. There is no more humbling experience to remind us that we are mere ants in comparison to the power and order of the gods in the heavens above.”
“I also believe that Yahweh intended the stars to provide a calendar for man to know that there is an unchanging order of events and an appointed time for everything in our lives same as there is an appointed time for every affair in the heavens. The stars remind us of the importance of time when we experience a night under the stars such as this night. We should emulate the order of the stars to navigate our appointed times in life wisely. I have composed this teaching about the subject of time in ones lives.”

A time to kill and a time to heal; a time to tear down, and a time to build. A time to weep and a time to laugh. A time to mourn and a time to dance. A time to rend and a time to sew. A time to be silent and a time to speak. A time to love, and a time to hate; a time for war, and a time of peace.” (Ecclesiastes 3-8)
“We Israelites also believe that the meaning of each star in the sky to be a spirit of a righteous ancestor. The larger and brighter the star, the more righteous were the deeds of the ancestor. As a bright light in a home indicates that someone is home, so does a star shine brightly as if to signal to us that the righteous deeds remain with us. There will be no lamp or shining stars for the wicked. Their deeds of darkness in life will be extinguished and forgotten in time when they die.” The light of the righteous shines brightly, but the lamp of the wicked goes out. (Proverb 13:9)
